Despite being in the process of recording, a conflict between Clapton and drummer Jim Gordon led to the band's disintegration and the album was shelved. Recorded at London's Olympic Sound Studios in April and May 1971, the tracks featured on this disc are all instrumental, often referred to as "basic tracks"
